weekend run down

we attended Jack - o Launch 2009 on Saturday.

it was 18 degrees out, a bit breezy and snowing. everything was running late.
we were joined by friends Robin & Charles and a surprising number of other people willing to weather the weather. We also saw AP and the kids. the Bean did her best to turn into a Popsicle.
after a couple hrs we successfully saw some pumpkins launched and then ran back to the car to warm up.

We watched The Changeling. it was dark and depressing. Its Monday and i still need to watch something Disney to make up for it.

we had dinner with R & C who made a yummy white chili and chocolate martinis.

Friday we went to Cecil's birthday party, where everything was red.
and we filled up the rest of the weekend shopping for Halloween costume components.

pittsburgh take 2.

ok, i tried to post this a few days ago and Firefox kept crashing. so i will try again.

Pittsburgh! Most of it was closed for the G20, so we saw an awful lot of nice military personnel and blocked off exit ramps. thank god for GPS.
some how i only took one photos, and it was our detour to Ohio, because we didn't have money for the toll roads.

we went to the andy warhol museum- which was awesome! very well put together.
we also went to the art museum/ natural history museum. where we saw the largets remaining collection of plaster molds from ancient churches and roman busts and so forth [circa 1900]. and a wonderful exhibit on palm springs architecture from the 60s.

the wedding was a blast. tim and i actually danced. i think it helped that we were sure that we weren't any worse than the bride.

in other news my mom made me a new hat. its funny. i like it.

yes, she can knit. the colors are wonky because she was trying to make it gradient, and it didn't go so well. oh well, i like it.

i had 3 other things to blog about, but i waited too long and now i don't remember.

oh kittens!

some new pic.s of the kittens.

First, I'm going to say good by to Ozzy. he has now been gone a month and i don't believe he is coming back. he was a mean little fucker. but when he chose, he could be the most loving purring kitty out there. I still look out the bedroom window every morning, expecting to see him sitting on the recycle bin, waiting for breakfast.

Below: picture in the first day or 2 Tim had him. he was 1.5 lbs.
fully size, but not full fluf. taken during the summer when he slimmed down. that red heat tag was punishment for loosing so many collars. nothing says "neighborhood bad ass" like a giant red heart.
Falkor was scared of the electrician today. and got wedged between the washer and furnace. i didn't realize until he had been there quite a while that he was actually stuck. and PISSED.

Professor Phennius Cheeto Esq. is now 1. theoretically this means he is no longer a kitten. somehow i think he will always be a kitten. Still skitterish, but slowly getting better.
annnnnd... kabuki just barfed up her dinner.

YESSSS!!

IT BEGINNING TO FEEL A BIT LIKE FALL...

i say a few golden leaves fluttering around on the street in the brisk morning breeze.

I LOVE FALL. wish i could take off from mid sep. through thanksgiving. i hate being in a windowless office all day, much less inside. lets go outside. lets go run around.

eveyone in my office is wining that we never had a summer and it never got hot. really? cus you can come over sometime. i'm sorry that your day went: AC apartment, AC car, AC office, AC car, AC apartment, AC restaurant, AC apartment. sheesh. no wonder you never noticed it was swealtering in july and aug.

song of the day: return to pooh corner- nitty gritty dirt band.

the drive home

i find that i am happier upon returning from work when i ride my scooter, rather than take the car. this is in no way related to how my day at work was. though scooting usually makes a crappy day better in the end.

moan

some days you cant win. and some days those days get to you more than others. i hate when those days get to me. my head says "wtf does it matter? its fine. no worries." but my heart is sure we are do for some angsty self pity of some kind.

i have also realized that i am sad i spend little time in coffee shops anymore. i love hanging out at the coffee shop after school/work and chatting or reading or planning. its like what we do at home, only in a public place. the theory here is that people i don't often see could choose to join us to chat. some people are easier to lose track of than others.

i miss riding around in the car with friends. radio, going somewhere. or no where. just hanging out. why do Tim and i have to plan EVERYTHING.

hummm...

Received news recently that some friends are moving to Taiwan in mid Nov. they got an offer to teach English. so if anyone is looking for or knows some one looking for an apartment, they are looking for someone to sublet until the lease ends in March. They are near Denver West and i think rent is around $850 a month. 2 bed + garage.

I am officially claiming it to be Prof. Cheeto's Birthday. As of September he is about 1 yr. old. [and adorable as ever.] i will try to get a new photo of him. hopefully one that does not have him running away or looking terrified.

Tim and i started talking about Halloween this weekend. We are excited that it is on a Saturday, so there is time for a whole weekend of party's, costumes and other goodness. I realized recently that i have never been a cat or a witch for Halloween. i was once a PuppyKittyButerfly, but that is as close as i got. i don't remember all my costumes but here are the ones i do remember:
my little pony, ballerina, puppykitttybuterfly, Indian, lobster, surfer, dead gardener [everyone thought i was a crappy scarecrow.], a court jester, a vampire, annnd... some assorted combinations courtesy of goodwill. cant remember what else. i feel that my gold lamae leggings need to be worked into a costume at some point that weekend.

oh the money we spend...

it turns out that $1500 in car repairs does make the car feel like new. now if only some of that had involved having the interior steam cleaned, or the paint re-done.

in other news we will soon have a light in our bedroom again. we attempted to install ceiling fans in the house, but our wiring circa 1940 needs updating. now there is an electrician involved and we are praying that the supposedly re-done electrical through out the house IS actually grounded.

but but... i wanted to spend that $$ on shoes!

epic beer run.

so... beer run was mildly successful.
we had the amazing apricot ale. but they were selling out Friday night and would only fill a growler if it was *their* growler. some how if you are a local and can go there every week, you can by extra beer. but if you hauled ass up from Denver, no. you can buy by the pint and that is all. so sorry.

also i was sick.

it was a beautiful drive. but i was not feeling well, so we didn't camp and just headed back to Denver. beer was great. but I'm kinda pissed we couldn't buy more.

to the mountains again!

we head to the mountains again this afternoon, for what will be henceforth known as "epic beer run."

part of how we ended up in some of our last camping trip calamity, was due to taking a scenic rout from delta to glenwood. we had hopped to stop and get some beer at our favorite nano brewery in paonia. we found it, but discovered that it did not open until 4:30 that afternoon, and later found out that they had sold out the night before.

i checked the weather- no rain or snow in the forecast for tonight/tomorrow. we head out this afternoon. our goal is the Apricot Ale. we may drive back tonight, we may camp by the rive and drive back the next morning.

this is where we are headed.
http://www.revolution-brewing.com/

you can also catch them next weekend in Ouray at the Brew festival. we went last year, it was great fun.

good weekend/ bad weekend.

it was an odd weekend.

we kicked it off with a trip to an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on Thursday for our 2nd anniversary. the rolls weren't well crafted, but the fish was great. i ate so much i was burping up rice later.

Friday we went hiking in chitaqua park in boulder, wandering around the old cemetery and up and down pearl st. then to a "drink like you did in college" party, featuring such wonderful games as beer pong and hearts. Tim drank too much and i slept on the couch most of the night.

saturday we ran errands, said goodbye to my aunt that was visiting and had dinner with a friend. i am sorry to say that said friend was in morning of a parent that passed away friday.

sunday was a glorious day, filled with perfect fall temperatures and soccer and pizza and a movie.

"camping"

a couple weekends ago we set out camping. Our plan was to leave Friday after work and head up to a campground call Fulson Cave, outside of Eagle. Due to many schedule conflicts we ended up with one brave friend, Adam, joining us on our journey. We packed everything and ourselves into our little Subaru and headed out.

First stop was our corner gas station. Looking back we wonder if this is what jinxed everything. This is the scariest intersection. we cross our fingers and say hail marys everytime we go past this place, beuse the crazy going in and out is deadly.
Adam____________> our friendly pirate friend.
the car is packed. full.
We stopped for Pizza in Idaho Springs. Beajous makes a decent gluten free crust.

back on the road, this picture doesn't, like most here, do honor to the quality of sun set. i think i took this coming out of Eisenhower tunnel.

We hit Eagle around 9:30. stopped for booz and groceries. after some confusion and new housing developments, we found the road we were looking for and headed for the campgrounds. We choose this campground because it was supposed to A. never fill up. B. has a cave to explore. C. a ghost town. D. hiking trails that take you to a lake. Sounds great right?

Full. all full. over 30 campsites. looked like a wonderful place to go, and maybe we will another time. By the time we got back down the mountain and into town in was 11pm.
Friday night, spent at the AmericInn in Eagle. we found out that there was both a brew fest and rodeo in town that weekend. as we were to later realize, it was rodeo weekend in all of western Colorado.
the hotel had a swimming pool and free breakfast. that that at least was a plus.

We had our mildly trusty campsite book with good descriptions, and Adam bought a map of Colorado. [we didn't bring one because we were going down i-70 and going one place. who needs a map?] this was a good move on Adam's part, we later realized.

We headed for a place South of Grand Junction, on the way to Gateway. stopped for firewood- at several different places. apparently when you are in areas near where you would actually use firewood, it is near impossible to find, unlike, say central Denver, where you can get all the firewood you want.

we headed to a Bureau of Land Management camping area called Domingez [sp?]. We went up the gravel switchback, and back down the gravel switchback [all the while questioning if we could do it in reverse the next morning.] The campground was beautiful, set in a red stone canyon, in a grove of cottonwoods, next to a stream. the Colorado southwest at it's finest.
we went hiking! [before returning to lounge and nap.]
Adam had a new and giant tent. it had a zipper slot for electrical cords. and another small round opening, that i thought was a dog flap, but it turned out to be fore reaching a drink out of your cooler with out leaving your tent.
FIRE! and head lamps, and potatoes and sausages and liqueur. Adam is also the only one smart enough to bring a chair.

The next morning we packed up and headed out around 10. Surprisingly enough we did make it back up the switch back and headed for Delta. Instead of heading back up through Grand Junction and strait for i-70, we decided to take the more scenic rout through Delta to Paonia, looking for a small brewery called Revolution Brewing. we had some of their brew last year in Ouray and found it to be amazing. They were, unfortunately, closed. we continued on to Redstone where we stopped for Lunch and the Redstone Cafe. food was good, but soon people were poring in. Turns out there was a mud slide just out side of town, meaning we were not going to be able to continue through to Carbondale and up to i-70. also meaning that we narrowly missed being in a mud slide due to stopping for lunch.

From here we have two options. A. take 2 hours and head south across to Crested Butte and on to Gunnison. putting us at 5 or 6 hours from Denver, at least, since its now Sunday and there is always traffic getting into Denver. or B. we go south and take a different pass over the mountain that puts us back on i-70 just west of where we would have come out anyway. According to our map book, option B looks like the better plan. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention. it's raining. and has been since Delta, more or less.
This option "B" turns out to be 50 miles of gravel roads. 3/4 of which are amazingly beautiful giant Aspen groves and meadows full of wild flowers- and free range cows. every so often we see people camping or whatnot, so we were not entirely alone up there. at some point towards the end we hit the road change. due mainly to change in land ownership. this road is not nearly as well cared for. the gravel is mostly gone or just on the sides of the road and what is left is fine dusty dust. or it would have been had it not been six inches of slick mud. and what could be better than slick mud? going down a steep switch back in slick mud. yup. we slid sideways most of the way. and hopped the remaining gravel on the edges would be enough for us to get traction and not slam into a dirt wall. at this time it was probably great that we had the car seriously weighted down with people and stuff. and it was also good that we had 4 wheel drive.

I didn't think to take more photos here. really i should have.
We came out in Silt. where we were detoured over to Glenwood Springs, due to a mud slide and a tanker that was too tall hitting a bridge. Finally made it to a gas station, where we exited the car as fast as possible.I would like to say that the story ends here, with us getting on i-70 and heading home. But NO. We headed through Eagle as fast as the speed limit would allow, only to hit the breaks and join the 30 mile line of cars trying to get past Vail. OK. we didn't know if was 30 miles. first we heard that it was 5 miles. but after 2 hours and moving maybe a mile, we turned around and headed back to Eagle for Dinner. thinking we could get on Hwy. 6 and go around the traffic, we also promptly came to a stop and say in traffic for several hours. after some calls home we heard that a tanker had flipped at noon and there was 15 miles of traffic. at this point it was 10pm and we had been traveling for 12 hours. We headed back to eagle only to find all of the hotels full and then back to Glenwood Springs. We had breakfast Monday morning at a Bavarian Bakery, where we leaned that there was 30 miles of traffic and another mud slid on Hwy. 6. To make our trip more fun, all road construction resumes mid morning on week days. we left our camp site at 10 am on Sunday and arrived home to Denver at noon Monday.

weekend stuffs. not exciting. but fun

it was a weird weekend for us. somehow we had noting. i mean nothing planned.

friday: we sought ADVENTURE. which resulted in adventure golf, than got rained out- so now we have a rain check and can go again. hung out with friends, had a good time.

sat: i attempted to teach a friend a felting technique. it didn't work as it was supposed to and i have no idea why. i have done something like 30 yards of fabric using this technique and have never had a problem. so i don't know what happened. we watched Kung Fu Panda. I'm not sure how i feel about it. i think i need to watch it again. also watched Wanted. again, not quite what i thought it was going to be, i think. but fun action shoot em' up movie.

sunday: Hiking! we headed to ..somewhere- west of evergreen.... and went up about 1,200 feet. to the top. it was a good hike. we remembered my inhaler this time and i think roller derby has helped as well. i really feel it at about 1,100 feet. which could explain why i totally didn't do good when we attempted grays and torys last yr. [also a forgotten inhaler.] that climb starts at 1,100 feet. didn't take any pictures, because, well, it looked like hiking in Colorado. but was not extraordinary and in need of photographs. still want to do the 14er. but need to work up to it better. hope to do more hiking this summer and fall.

Buffy

We finished watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer last week. All 7 seasons. i dint like the last few nearly as much as the earlier seasons. also, Buffy gets freaky skinny. go watch some of season one, then watch season 7. Hollywood got to her. as it often does with new, young, pretty actresses. one day you look at them and they are these weird emaciated, freakishly makeuped women. it usually means they have lost alot of their charm.

In an effort to see Angel less mopey, we started watching Angel this week. the sun set/ rising flashes to show the change of days is HILARIOUS. who the hell though that shit up?

i ordered the first season of Bones from the library like... 6 months ago. literally. i am still like 14 on the list. they must only own one copy.

LCL 8

cultural excursions.

due to my recent Derby Break Up and the holiday weekend, Tim and I found ourselves with nothing to do on Sunday. [by nothing, i mean avoiding laundry, grocery shopping- etc.]

We decided to head to the Denver Art Museum to see the Psychedelic Poster Exhibit. Featuring posters from San Francisco from 1964 - 71. I pre-viewed this show last Wednesday while i was down town for jury duty and thus had a free pass to the museum. I knew Tim wanted to go, but i was not sure we would make it before the show closed.
This show was the best I have ever seen at DAM. I think I usually go in with expectations of some kind- but this show I had no idea what there was supposed to be.
There were easily a couple hundred posters on display. they were arranged in chronological order and grouped by artist. Meaning that you could see how style changed as a whole over time and also the progress of the artist.
I love this style of poster. But have never seen enough of it to get a good feel for the concept and how and why things were arranged the way they were. I have actually been trying to do a t-shirt screen for work that had this feeling. at the time i searched endlessly for good examples and found nothing. to day i looked and you can see it all. maybe its popular again. more so this year than last year.

to continue our cultural escapades we headed to the movie theater for one of the multitudes of showings of Transformers II.
we knew it would be non coherent. it seemed long to me. probably because it was all shiny fighting, and i didn't give a shot about if anyone involved succeed in what ever it was they were trying to accomplish. [i was a bit fuzzy on that too.] Then we enjoyed spending over an hour pointing out loop holes and a so forth total bashing of the film.

it was a good day.

the neighborhood.

went for a walk tonight in shorts and a tee shirt.

boy am i popular.

clearly big butt, big thighs and big boobs are all you need...

in a primarily Mexican neighborhood.

rocks

we visited the Natural History Museum last weekend. One of my absolute favorite areas to go is the Gem and Mineral Hall. i guess you would call it a hall... i don't know what else you would call it.

anyway, i love petrified wood and things like geodes. yes i even have a shitty rock collection at home, probably wrapped up in a box.

i found this on Esty.com to day. my heart swoons.

company picnic

i just received my official invite for the summer company picnic.

it starts out by proclaiming: FOOD, SUN, AND lots n' lots of FUN!

"The park offers large grassy areas, a large pond with pedal boats [for a fee], lengthy sidewalks, basketball courts, a huge playground, and volleyball nets. Fishing is aloud. Some equipment will be provided but feel free to bring your own "toys" if you wish. Bring plenty of sunblock."

Boy! Gee whiz! a park with grass and lengthy sidewalks! what are we waiting for?

"toys" I'm going to assume we are referring to fishing gear in the sentence.

cant wait.

really amazing. high on my list of impressive things from the internet today.

Super Great Excellent Saturday Time (or, Experimenting With Google Translator)

Shared via AddThis

this is such a weird title. really it should be SUPER DUPER COOL PENCIL CARVING SCULPTURES. in caps. just like that.

break up

i walked away from Derby yesterday.

i can still drop in on the rec. league practices. for 2 reasons i will probably do this: 1. if everything suddenly stops hurting, i will know and can decided to return to regular derby. and 2. to remind my self just how much it hurts to skate.

i am sad.

i also think i will have time to make a pie and organize my recipes this week. maybe i will get really crazy and clean out the car too.

growing up

at 25 1/2 i have no idea what i want out of life.

i know that i want to live the kind of life that i can look back at and be happy what i achieved and have lots of good stories to tell.

there are a lot of places i want to go and things i want to do. the question is: how many of them are realistically achievable? how many are worth trying for- even if you fail. which ones are fantasy, that sound fun, but will probably not ever even be attempted? and how do you decided with direction to go?

i, of course, always pick expensive, time consuming hobbies.

i want to travel. i want to see everything.
Belarus is currently towards the top of the list, as well and Argentina, New Zealand, and japan.
i still haven't been to Carlsbad or Vancouver or San Francisco.

i think it would be fun to keep bees.

i want to live in a cottage.
i want to live near Taos.

i want to be in business for something kookie. designing fabric. making soap. something crafty.

i want to not work a desk job forever. because i hate it. essentially i am doing what i set out to do. i am designing children's cloths, and fabrics, and screen prints. fun right? well, except for the part where i am inside at a desk all day. ulg.
i don't like restricting hours.
maybe i can have a business doing stationary and planning tea parties? i don't know anyone who has ever actually made money at that.
somehow Tim and i both want the kind of job that involves no one making any money. we don't have to be rich, but i like to be comfortable.

i have a habit of staying in things for too long. i have that sheer determination that if i just stick with it for long enough it will all work out.
yet somehow i don't seem to have that determination in a positive setting.

on that matter: my roller derby may soon be at an end. i hurt when i skate. i can feel every old injury. my knees are bad. my feet still hurt. my back doesn't feel right if i get hit just so.
but i want to be a full out hard hitting, ass kicking roller girl. my body thinks its a terrible idea. i know that i can say i tryed. and that i did what i could to fix things, BUT... i have this deep seated idea in my head that if i just keep pushing through one day the sun will shine and the birds will sing and everything will be great. annnd maybe i will convince my self that its not getting better, i tryed and its not going to work, but that is ok.

what direction do i go now?

RIP

We lost both Farah Fawcett [62]- an original Angle, and Michael Jackson [50] yesterday.
Farah was battling advanced cancer, and MJ...well we haven't heard yet. he was taken to the hospital because he was found not breathing.

weekend

it was a weird weekend. we got NOTHING done.
First of all Tim has been working nights. or at least he was last week- so his sleeping schedule is off.
Friday we headed to a new neighborhood favorite Tacabe for dinner with our friend Nate. Tacabe calls it's self "an American Indian eatery." it is kind of chipotle style. only they do fry bread tacos and pizza as well as nachos. they have delicious good fresh things to go on said, fry bread- including pasole. this restaurant is all about being good for the environment. everything is recycled and the cups and silverware are biodegradable. [i guess that makes it less "silverware" and more "cornstarch wear."
then we headed to another friends house for a party. it was a good time of trying Absinthe and playing flux/munchkin. Geeks Ahoy!
Tim went back to work and i didn't get to bed until after 2am. this is not normal for me. i am not a night person.
i slept in Saturday. and Tim got in bed at 10am. i have no idea what else happened, except i was soar from push ups on Thursday and i had to go to the store to get actual gluten free pizza crust. preceded to nothing around the house and headed to Derby at 5.
things didn't get started until 7:30, so as usual there was a lot of sitting around, wondering why we were there so early. I played in the half time scrimmage. it was bittersweet, as my ankles decided that they DID NOT want o skate. looking back at photos i can see that i am looking down in a lot of them. bad bad bad. trying to get back in the swing of the game.
it was another late night.
Sunday was Father's Day adventures downtown for lunch and then to the Rockie's game. we sat i the rock pile. it was hot. i think they won. i don't know, we were so far away it was hard to concentrate on the game.
i sit here Monday morning, exhausted. with a list of errands running through my head.. all the weekend house things that didn't get done. hopefully the Mr. is doing a load of laundry this morning. and if I'm really lucky he will vacuum the furniture. you would think we had a wookie living with us, the amount of hair floating around the house.

Next weekend: history museum- i hope, pride paraide

official scrimmage

Saturday night was my first official public scrimmage.
it was fun, but short. only played at half time. my feet are still hurting and my lungs are not happy. working at it though...

i am in the matte red helmet. can you see what i am doing wrong? i am looking down. BAD.
some how i ended up with the most deep cut tank...
this is pretty much the whole team. we are missing a few girls. but not too many. i am to the left of the woman in the light blue helmet, toward the bottom left of the photo.

poor choices

i hate when salads come with croutons or wantons or anything of that stuff already on top if the salad. i can clearly see them breaking apart getting their little glutenous bits all over everything.
there are 7 lunch options- i can eat 2 that have not visibly been contaminated.

Return to Derby

I returned to Derby last night.
i have been out a good 3 weeks. and doing poorly the 3 or 4 weeks prior to that.

my main problem has been foot pain, and ankle cramping. the ankle cramping due largely to my skates being too big.
i got new skates, and went to the foot dr. i have been doing rehab exercises to build up strength in my tendons and ligaments and other small important muscles. for whatever reason skating brings out all my weaknesses. Really- probably, the reason above all others to keep skating.

so last night: my ankles didn't hurt!
my_____ did hurt: bottoms of my feet, knees and Left thigh. i think the feet thing was more of a wrong sock kind of deal. my knees are bad and i fell hard and wrong again. keep catching my toe stops on the floor when i don't want to. and my thigh? felt like i was straining an old injury.
the new skates are stiff.. caused some blistering and my Achilles to hurt and for a bump.
iced everything.
NEW SKATES: are definitely faster. omg. better bearings, and everything is clean. feel lighter. need to hammer out the backs to soften them up. and get a skate tool so i can switch out my wheels.
might sell my old skates to another girl- but now don't know what to do about wheels. i want to keep all the wheels i have, so i will have an outside pair. but feel bad selling someone a pair of wheel less skates.

going to play in a scrimmage Saturday. didn't invite anyone because A. didnt know if i was playing. B. they insist that everyone ride the paty bus at $25 a head and C. i'm only play in the half time scrimmage for 1/2 and hr.

Maybe one day i will be a real roller girl.

best thing ever

ch. 7 is calling yesterday's tornado, "tornado outbreak!"

neighborhood kids.

we have a group of neighbor kids, who spend a majority of their evenings riding their bikes up and down the street.
they like to come over and talk to us sometimes when we are working in the front yard.

recently they have decided that NO. means "Why yes! absolutely go in the back yard while were not home, jump on the trampoline, look in the garage window and lie to Bob." i have "caught" them on the tramp. twice in 2 days. and by caught i mean that the gate is open and there are small foot prints all over the trampoline.
These kids range in age from 11 to 4. the 11 yr old knows darn well what they are doing, and should not be. Every time they ask to do something, and i tell them no, i get "but that's not fair..."
no it is fair. you pay my house insurance and we'll talk.
Two things bother me than anything else: deliberately doing things after they have been asked not to, and the fact that i have never ONCE seen their parents outside.

what do we do? the kids are clearly board out of their minds. and who know what their relationship with their parents is.
Bob will call the cops on them the next time he catches them in our yard when we are not home.

We don't think this is a battle we will win with fear.
But how do we get through to these kids that we will respect them, if they respect us? as they do not seem to understand personal boundaries. [found out they are the ones pealing off our bumper stickers.] they arnt nice kids either. among many other things- Tim is an "assmuncher."
We would like to be the better role models in these kids lives- and not another grouchy set of people who just yell at them.

update

i haven't posted much in a while. i have a camera full of pictures that i keep meaning to put here and thus holding off on posting.

went to the foot Dr. the other day. he gave me exercises to do to make my feet stop hurting when i skate. so for now the derby career is on hold while i try to strengthen up. thinking about it, all the exercises i was given, are things i was doing before i started skating- when only my ankles were hurting [presumably due to my skates being too big.]
maybe one day i will be a real roller girl!

then we went to Kansas. really it was a pretty good trip. Tim and his mom and i drove out together. stopping along the way to do all the road side attractions. this was the perfect time to visit Kansas. Everything was lush and green. i didn't see the flat part of Kansas until we got half way across the state. the rest however, is beautiful rolling hills. we spent 13hrs one day meeting and greeting crazy relatives in their HOT houses. and the rest of the time recovering from that.
at least 2 family members got Black Mold spores in their lungs- and I'm hoping what i have today is allergies and not BM.

i feel good this week. we got out of town. I'm not worried about skating. i can focus on something i can do at home. i can work on the yard and getting the house shaped up. its almost like a real summer vacation- except for the being in an office in a windowless warehouse all day.

its time to think about camping, bonfires, ren fest and farmers markets. YEA.

anxiety attacks.

i get myself in such a tizzy sometimes. well, more like anxiety attacks that last for days.
i have been kind of , not right for a while now. have been making various changes as i go, but i still wonder if some of it might be sleep apnea.
anyway, i get all wound up and it completely destroys everything going on for me. i have a hard time letting go and gettign past it. and quite often i don't know why I'm so mad, and am perfectly aware that its stupid.

i have traveled. i know that in pretty much all aspects of life i have nothing to be unhappy about.
i'm wildly in love with my husband.
we are happy.
we have a house.
no debt.
kitties!
a garden.
i can aford a car and a scooter.
we both have decent jobs.
i have a degree and am working in the field of which that degree is.
i have health insurance.
i am -we are both fairly healthy- with the exception of more recent hickups, and trying to sort that crap out.
we both get along with our parents. and love our familys.
we can choose to do activities- for me this is soccer and derby. and an art class last semester.
we have friends we see periodically.
we live fairly comfertably.
etc. etc.

so why why why, can i not just have fun and enjoy the ride? why do i have to i have to freak that i'm not progressing in my job or derby as quickly as i think i should? or anything else? and once i'm freaked everything that has ever annoyed me is sudenly a big ass deal, instead of just a side bar even that doesnt matter.
jeezes.
CALM THE FUCK DOWN. SLAP. SLAP.

maybe i will sleep tonight.

yet again, too much going on this weekend. how does this happen? i have things i need to do as well as the ones i want to do. and i need more than 2 days.

huh?

my deodorant clames to make me feel "fresh" and "invigorated." when was the last time your deodorant made you feel invigorated?

man...

man.. WTF.

i ask questions, and get half answers. why is everything a secret. jeezes.

if your gonna ask us to promote the friends and family weekends. you should also fucking tell us that we wont be playing- like usual- since we haven't passed the skills test.
and lets not even get into that politics rant.
silly me to think, that, because we usually play sundays, as long as we have met attendance requirements- that F&F scrimmages would be the same deal.

cool

got a "totally looks like" selected!*

*yes. i know it was designed to look like a penguin. i was just hoping to get one in.

gardening.

i have pictures of the yard renovation- just not here. not yet.
we got sod and working sprinklers last weekend.
i planted some birthday shrubs last night. i hope to fill in with some creeping petunias to keep things stabilized this summer, until we can afford more plants. and mulch.
getting ready to plant the back vegetable garden as well.
hope to get the cloths line up in the back. not running your dryer is supposed to seriously reduce your electricity bill and be better for your cloths.
i am excited to FINALLY get the garden growing. you really cant start much earlier in Colorado, unless you want to start seeds inside.

one of my all time favorite places to visit in Denver is the Rocky Mt. Seed Co. i am glad to hear they are making a comeback with the renewed interest in backyard farming.

we have come to a sad conclusion recently. if we want to regularly have fire, we need to invest in a fire starter. there was one time, with the perfect selection of kindling and someone who is good at starting fires- that we got one to go with ease. otherwise we spend 3 hrs just trying to get the thing to stay lit and use an entire x-mas tree.
but it also means, we will enjoy having a fire once a week.

our cats like to play with cords- which we highly discourage, except for one. Tim's old laptop cord has an attached piece of velcro for keeping the cord bundled- our cat Kabuki, like to clean this piece of velcro so lovingly, that we just cant take it away from her.

from around the yard

photos taken at the end of april. i cant believe how big the rhubarb is, and that the swiss chard over wintered.
